I am a metalhead from the eighties myself. I listened to metallica as well. plus some pantera and slayer. My favorite band was and still is Iron Maiden (yes they are still going), of course the mainstays like Judas Priest were found in my collection along with the likes of Tesla, Skid Row, and Queensryche
Maiden are great too..Bruce Dickenson is still (in my opinion) one of the best metal singers ever. Maiden are actually going on tour with Judas Preist this summer...should be a hell of a show. I like some of the newer stuff coming from North America now too...Mastodon are great, they just have such a different sound...so much of
DH is bummed b/c he can't see that concert..He loves Maiden and Judas Priest, but the legs prevent him from standing for long period of times. He refuses to go and sit and not see the band...I don't blame him. I think you are his music twin. He imports majority of his music from overseas.
He has already missed Umphreys McGee, will miss Maiden, Rush, Dream Theatre and some other ones, I can't recall. Is Nightwish touring? If so he will or did miss it. He is quite bummed.
Nightwish is touring....they started first of April on a club tour...I am going to see Rush...I adore Neil Peart...he's jsut amazing...I'll see Behemoth here in a couple of weeks too...I missed several concerts last fall due to illness...which stung extra hard because 2 of the band (Enslaved and Amon Amarth) are from Norway and Sweden (respectivly) and don't come here very often..so it could be a couple years before I see them back.
I do order alot of my music from overseas...its just easier that way. I wanted to go see Children of Bodom on tour with In Flames and Megadeth (I can't stand Dave Mustaine) but they're not coming here this go around..so thats dissapointing.

I will admit I fell sound asleep at one of Bruce Dickinson's (solo) concert. I have an excuse though. I was up that morning at the hospital at 4am to do a surgical RN rotation and his concert started at 10pm that night-I was tired. I was 10 feet from the stage, I sat down on the stairs and plum fell asleep. He says how I fell asleep and stayed asleep is beyond him. I was exhausted.
Thats the tour! Preist, Maiden and Queensryche...I couldn't remember who the last band was. It really will be one hell of a night. I believe the tour starts in June, and I don't know if you ever saw that documentary called "Metal: A Headbangers Journey"...but Sam Dunn, the guy who wrote and conducted it is now doing a documentary on Maiden. He and Dickenson really hit it off when he interviewed him and they kept in touch.
Clutch are pretty good, though I haven't listened to them extensively...lately I've been listening to alot of Scandinavian black and death metal. Enslaved and Amon Amarth being at the top of that list as well as bands like Dissection (on of my all time favs) and Dimmu Borgir.
