Well, since you've educated us about many of the Norse traditions I did watch it with a skeptical eye.
The dilution of the gene pool revalation is an interesting one and one that helped put the stigma on Heathens as being racist, which for he most part, isn't true. Now there are Heathen groups out there affiliated with neo-nazi propaganda, I won't deny that, but most of us are very tolerant towards people of any race or creed. I think its important to be proud of your heritage and be versed in what its all about, but you're heritage is just as meaningful as mine, no matter where you come from.
If you delve really, really far back into history there is genetic proof that some of the lighter skinned people on the Indian sub continent share DNA. This is because the Caucasians, folks from the Caucus mountains in Europe went two directions, to modern day Scandinavia and to the Indian subcontinent. It's believed that what eventually became Hinduism and Norse Heathenism was derived from the losse set of beliefs of the Caucasians. So they started out as a nomadic people which is part of the reason they traveled so far in a time when travel wasn't so easy. Accounts of them in Persia, Egypt etc. aren't usually very flattering either. They're depicted as huge barbarians with long hair tattooed from neck to wrist who kill anything in their path. While the long hair and tattoos are correct (tattoos were blue, they used idigo as their ink) it wasn't always in their best interest to kill folks, especially if they wanted to trade with them.
