I'm not the only one having problems with Private Messaging.

Hi Joy,

Here's the latest from tech support -

No, it's still not something they've been able to fix yet. When it is, I'll update the status here. In the meantime, you can have the members email me with the membername they are trying to pm and I can do a temporary fix that will/should allow a PM to go through. The email to use is techtalk@mail.ivillage.com.

I don't know if I am understanding this fix entirely. I can't PM a LOT of members. Do I have to email and ask them to rig up something for every member I can't reach when I want to PM them?

Since I don't work in tech support, I'm not sure I could answer your question correctly.

Hi,

Yes. If you run across someone who you'd like to PM and you get the error message, if you'd like to continue with the PM, you can send their name to me at techtalk@mail.ivillage.com and I can do a fix on my end. Unfortunately my fix is done manually per name so this is all we can offer until they can work out why this is happening and deploy a fix.

Thanks!

Yes you should be frustrated. Have you ever logged on to other sites you hold membership and discover you've lost functionality one day and have it the next? Do the pages jump the hell all over the place? Do you get continual scripting errors? And if you report a problem do they ask you every single time what browser

NENU! Hi. It seems to be getting worse instead of better.

NO KIDDING!

But of course it really isn't anyone's fault. ::: fake cough! :::

It is due to the interface of believability with a sincere belief in fantasy and unreality coupled with a good helping of smooth talking absolute nonsense that the PowersThatBe really hope we will fall for and believe.

Problem is, we're don't fall for it.

Hi Nenu,

I'm sorry you are continuing to have PM issues. I checked with our tech department and there hasn't been any reports of this happening to others. Without your computer info there isn't much that can be done other than a general investigation, however, this does appear to be the first case of this reported. The current PM issue does have a fix, we're just waiting on verification before it can be deployed.

Hi Erin,

Thank you for coming here to post "in person". While Tasha pasted a copy of a post you wrote to someone elsewhere as an update, I find it more helpful to have our members addressed directly.

This is a troublesome issue. There are members that cannot interact with others without the PM feature but I don't really feel that too many want to involve a third party to send a message. LOL...it feels like passing a note in class. Neither does it bode well for privacy.

Thank you again
;)
