So now the collection of toys is up to 4 pieces, I've been looking for some better way for her to store them.

LOL on the sideboard? LOL

This has always been an issue at my house. We have a very open household and the toys' location often problematic.

I have one item in a silk make-up bag stashed under my bed. Another is in the box my perfume comes in ( lol velvet lined) and is at the bottom of a nightgown drawer. We have a few other things hidden here and there as well. My thinking was not to have a "treasure chest" of toys in one spot . At least if one of my kids finds one item it shouldn't be too too traumatic.

I know of a woman who kept hers in a drawstring beach bag hanging on a hook on the door of her bath. No one ever bothered this bag so she says.

I'll be interested in what some others have to offer!.

W/we have a end table in the bedroom that has two drawers in it and W/we keep O/our supplies in there. You could always get one of those chests that women used to use as hope chests (my MIL has one that she stores quilts in). I've seen some really nice ones. They fit in well with bedroom decor and I think some of them may come with locks.

No space left for any more furniture, otherwise a chest with a false bottom and secret pull out draw.

For the rougher pieces they're in a rolling duffle back in the bottom of our closet. My Hitachi is in the bottom of the filing cabinet (an otherwise unused drawer) but I figure that won't scar a child if it's found. Also, we often aren't home for our more raucous adventures, we have a snowbird in the family with a condo unoccupied 11 months a year and a membership to an adult club.
