I completely understand about the RL thing. It can be sooooooooo inconvenient. ;)
Anyway, I am sorry to hear of your upheaval a few years ago. I can feel the pain in your words. As far as I can tell, you do a really good job of enjoying the day, so good for you for finding happiness in every day.
I guess what I would like for myself is that sense of inner contentment some people seem to have. I mean, most days I'm pretty happy in the moment, but I have times where I get caught up in my mind, wondering what it is I'm missing. I really do feel like there's something missing in my life, I just can't figure out what it is. It can be maddening!
Thanks again
Oh, M, I think most, if not all of us go through this. I don't have an answer, though I wish I did.

I have been reading this thread with great interest, contemplating everyone's responses.

These things I reach for can be something so simple as a breath of Spring air, a perfect piece of cheesecake, a long awaited accomplishment, a much deserved reward. It can be found when my youngest kisses my forehead goodnight or when my Dad calls me at work for no reason other than to talk. I find happiness in so many things, so many places, so many people.
Having said that, my deepest and most fulfilling happiness stems from my interaction with another person. For me, in giving, in giving of myself, I find a very simple

A friend and I were discssing being happy and happiness. I'm not sure what being happy is. I think over the years I have become comfortable and accepted what life has given and taken away from me. As a child I remember many unhappy times that followed me through my teen years. I know it was not depression, I was just not a happy person. As a teenager I had someone tell me "Expect the least, prepare for the worst" so no matter what happens in your life you are prepared for it. I have been happy for other people but I do not know when I was happy for myelf.

A long time ago a gentlemen friend once told me that "you make your own happiness".

This is so true. Thank you for reminding me.
