I have tried to comply with the suggestion to post uninterrupted stories in the workshop.

I think it is better to post a long story with multiple posts, in fact. If it is broken up into posts, they become like chapters in a book. If the story is that long then I don't necessarily have enough time to read it in one go, and coming back to a single long post and finding where I left off is very difficult, so much so that I have occasionally given up on reading the story to its conclusion.

With multiple posts the story can "breathe", and a natural pause takes place. This is the same thing for posting with punctuation and paragraph breaks in the body of the text. I cannot read a long story or article, no matter how good it is or how much I want to read it, if it does not have paragraph breaks. A long continuous string of text is simply too difficult to follow.

I've have been doing on-line editing and critiquing for people who are writing stories to be posted, and one of the things I keep in mind and tell the writers is, think of and respect your readers. Think of their comfort and how they are going to be reacting to the story. Erotic stories are intended to elicit a physical reaction from the reader, namely a form and degree of sexual arousal. Keeping this in mind, make the other physical activity they are engaging in, namely reading, as comfortable for them as possible.

This is just, of course, my opinion.

I agree (as I so often do) with Magenta on this. Multiple posts are like chapter (or scene) breaks, allowing a story to breathe, and also allow a reader to get up, take a break, make use of the bathroom, get something to eat or drink, or even tend to real life for a while, and then come back to the story later with a convenient bookmark already in place, at a point where the author felt comfortable inserting a break. Some of the works I've collaborated on turn out to be novella or novel length upon completion, and I would never even attempt to post such a thing in one long post.

I agree but others were complaining about all the posts in between each chapter that they didn;t want to have to read all that to get to the next part of the story. There is also the issue of the next chapter in the same post and knowing that there is more story that has been added.. MrsP was trying to make it easier for all to read a complete story without all the other posts...I guess there is no pleasing everyone is there...
