Are Compliments Bad?

I have a question. I went out with a man last night that I had just recently met. He told me that I was beautiful and that I had really pretty eyes. I told a friend that today and he said I should cancel my next date with this guy. He seems to think it is a huge red flag that the guy said that without knowing me that long.

Any insight?

I dont see anything wrong if I man tells you you are pretty and have beautiful eyes, What is wrong with that according to your friend? There are many men who says that to a woman, that they did not even dated and what is wrong with that, I really dont know. Those words are neither suggestive nor vulgar nor anything. What is wrong with your friend!!

Why does your friend think that a compliment is a red flag? That seems strange to me. Far stranger than a guy giving you a compliment or two on a first date. I think I'd be more worried if the guy didn't say something sweet on the first date. A compliment just shows some interest.

Sounds to me like either your friend likes you or is jealous...
