Blue Collar Guy

I am in my late 40's and had given up dating entirely -- until last night. I met a guy in the loung of a restaurant last week after I had stoppped in there to get a bite to eat on my way home from shopping. He offered to help me with a newspaper crossword puzzle, and then began a conversation. After a couple of drinks, he asked for my number and, for some reason I gave it to him. He eagerly called me at exactly 12 noon the next day, and I let the message go to voicemail. I returned his call and agreed to meet him the next day. Unfortunately, something came up and I had to stand him up. I called and left voice mail. He returned my call and we made plans to get together again. He confirmed with a nice email.

I showed up this time, and we had a great time over a light dinner and some drinks. We never actually made it to the movie I suggested, intending to keep things light. He seems really interested, and even bemoaned a weekend trip he had already scheduled, saying he would cancel if he could. But alas. . . He definitely wants to get together next week.

Sounds o.k. so far, but . . . He's tried to get me over to his apartment almost every time I've talked to him. He's cute and playful, but there's a theme here. I don't think it unusual (since he's a guy), but I'm wondering if I am just delaying the inevitable one night stand? He's a blue collar guy and kind of a bit of a '70's throwback, and has definitely been honest about wanting both sex and a relationship. Is this a hopeless situation? I haven't done this in so long I can't tell anymore. Any thoughts?
