Cell Phone Signals

I don't have a cell phone but for anyone who does when someone tries to call your cell phone and it says the person is unavialble does that mean the cell phone is turned off or out of the signal area and if that is the case does it show that the person called?

My boyfriend is stationed overseas and a lot of the times that I do try to call him it says the person is unavialble and I was just wondering if that meant there is no signal and does the number showup or if the person has their phone turned off. He says he isn't avoiding me but I'm staring to wonder since everytime I call it says the person is unavialble

When I call him the phone doesn't even ring it just goes right to saying the person is no available so is it possible it's out of the signal area or that he's just ignoring my phone calls?

sorry to dash your hopes girlie, but when you call and it says the person you have reached is unvaiable, it means they don't have that number anymore....It doesn't mean the signal is bad or whatever.....and if he is telling you he isn't ignoring you, then he should have given you a number where he could be reached.

Sounds like you need to move on! Don't be messing around with a guy who is a jerk, you can do better for yourself and you don't have time to mess with glorified idiots.

I'm not sure, but I think that if he changed his cell phone number you would get a recording saying that cell number is not a working

You said - "when you call and it says the person you have reached is unvaiable, it means they don't have that number anymore....It doesn't mean the signal is bad or whatever....."

Sorry, that is a FALSE statement. "Unavailable" messages typically result in 2 well known issues:

1 - The cell phone is turned off

2 - The cell phone is not in the serving area and registered to a cell phone network.

There are 3 different technologies/standards for cell phone networks around the globe and they are not compatible. A phone purchased and registered to a North American provider will not work in many areas of Europe and vice versa. Depending how things are setup, he may not have international roaming enabled. International roaming is also extremely expensive - costing up to $1.00 per minute of use.

If the phone was purchased and registered to a network at his location, then most of these problems would disappear.

A fundamental issue here is that not everyone can accept a personal call while at work and the original poster is placing most of her calls while he is at work.

I work with cell phones on a daily basis. If it goes directly to this person is unavailable that means it's going straight to the voicemail and tells you that his phone is off. he may not be ignoring your calls, if he's oversees just leave a message if it lets you because he can't always be near the phone if his proffession is being in the military. also think of the time difference there, when it's day here, it's night there, so keep your chin up and leave a message and see if he calls you back.

If the phone does not ring at all, he does not know you have called. And if his own voice mail does not come on but the computerized " The person you are calling is unavailable now" It is safe to assume that he is not in an area where he can get a signal.

You might want to try to work on your self esteem. Sounds like you may be a little on the insecure side of the road.
