I met him 7 months ago. 3 weeks later he started to spend the night over.
I thought we are dating/starting a relationship only to realize after 2 months of sleepovers that we are FWB. So I broke it off and stopped seeing him for 10 days. He called and appologized and said he has feelings for me and dont want to let go of a possible successful relationship... we got back together. This time officially as couple in front of our common friends.
the other day I introduced him to a distant friend of mine, the guy asked how long we ve been together we both answered at the same time I said 7 months he said 4 months!
I find it weird that he does not count the first 3 months as part of the relationship eventhough he was acting the same way as now. It was an embarassing moment for me. But I m just curious as to what makes him think the first part should not be counted!! I find it weird.

The first three month he was casually dating you, but you thought it was serious. In his mind, he doesn't count those months as "serious" so he's been seriously dating you for the last 4 months. You were FWB without your knowledge, but he knew it so that doesn't count as serious dating to him.
