First dates and goodnight kisses

Hi - I just posted this to the Mr. Answer Man board but multiple points of view might be good on this:
Okay - here I am, very confused.
I've been doing some online dating recently (I have on and off for years, with some very good experiences with it). I've been puzzled though during the most recent round (over the last few months) about why none of the dates have progressed to a second date. Some are guys I have initiated dates with, others have initiated dates with me. Some I'm interested in seeing again, some I'm not. Usually we end up having a decent date (obviously from my perspective), a few days later I send an email saying, "hey - I just wanted to let you know I had a great time. Let me know if you want to hang out again" and I hear nothing... Fine.
But the last four first dates I have had have been even more confusing. All four have been fun dates, and all four have culminated in the good night kiss. In all four cases, he was the one who initiated the kiss, and all four have been much more involved than a simple peck on the lips. And none of the dates had any alcohol involved, so I can rule out beer goggling effects!
Silly me, I sort of assumed that good night kisses like that were reserved for people that one is actually interested in seeing again, but the same pattern happens. I send an email after a few days saying I had fun, let me know if you want to get together again, etc., and again I hear nothing?
Anyone have any ideas what's going on here? My new joke with friends is to say, "hey I had a fantastic date the other night, which clearly means I'm never going to see the guy again!"
Thanks!
