First online date

Talked to this guy online for 5 hours last night (9:00p.m. until 2:00a.m.). We talked about some really deep subjects too and just clicked. We are meeting for drinks on Friday..and I'm so nervous I could just die!..lol. He seems very "real". Not sure how to keep myself from getting my hopes up to high...he could be a real a#$ in person. Or the last guy that seemed great was for the first 8 weeks, then got spooked and decided he was dating too soon after his divorce.

Someone talk me down off this high..lol

Just keep reminding yourself that nothing is real until you meet in person.

I met several people that I initially contacted online. Some we had good emails, or great phone conversations and then when I met them they were just simply not my type. I did meet one great guy - but when I talked to him on the phone I kind of wrote him off because these other first meetings had been so disappointing. He sounded like he was a nice guy and fun, but not the serious type. I thought what the hell and met him. I had had a date the night before that went pretty good, and was almost tempted to cancel my date with this guy. I didn't worry about my hair too much, considered changing my shirt but didn't, and I don't think my sweater/jacket matched what I was wearing that well. All because I had such low expectations of it working out. Anyway, I was completely blown away by how smart and serious and funny he was.

So don't have any expectations of this first meeting. It is better to have a great date and be excited afterward, than to get excited before and then let down afterward.

It's good to feel excited about meeting someone but also good to be cautious. You're right - you don't know anything about him at all.
