how long before a title?

How long do you think you should date someone before there are titles (boyfriend/girlfriend) given?

I have been dating someone for 3 weeks. We see each other about 4-5 times/week...but he still says we've "only been hanging out a short time." It drives me nuts. If we were only hanging out, I'd see him 4-5 times in total, not per week.

Hi I agree that 3 weeks is along time to go without havinh a title. But that is just my opinion which is based on the fact that all the guys I have gone out with I have know for a month, 2 to 8 months before we even went out on a first date. Two of these guys I was just sorta friends with before the other one and I just talked on the phone for a month to get to know each other before we went out on our first date.

I think it all depends on the situation and the two people that are involved. I personally would find it really annoying not knowing whats going on, but at the same time I like to get to know people before I say I want to date them. So if you guys were not freinds before and just met, then I would say give it some more time. And do not try and force the situation, because it will happen in the end. Because they obviously like you if you see each other 4-5 times a week.

I hope I was of some help.

There is no timeline etched in stone. Your guy is probably not ready for a committment of any sort. Which is OK, as long as this is what you want too. I think 3 weeks is a short time for starting to get serious. But maybe your 'hanging out' guy would change his mind if you were less available... Stop being available 4/5 days a week, and try to see other guys. Have you talked about dating exclusively? Never ever assume a man is being exclusive just because you are.

I'm like the guy you're "hanging out"/dating. I wouldn't call a girl my gf after just 3 weeks. maybe 6 weeks to 2 months and then I'll give her the title if we're still clicking.

Hmm interesting what I'm hearing. My boyfriend and I met about a month before and were "friends" (hanging out all the time, obviously interested in each other) for about a week or two before we started dating. One night we kissed, I left for the weekend, came back and he was calling me his girlfriend to me and his/our friends. I haven't told him this but it took me a good month of dating to start calling him my boyfriend even though I was completely committed and we were exclusive and everything. Anyway, that's my story. Sorry if you can't understand me. My first language is not English.

The titles are given once they are asked.

My SO asked me after 3 weeks. I said no because I was freaked! I only went home, to my own bed, once since we started dating at that point. And we did not have sex until two months.

But I asked him to be my BF about 3 weeks later. He said yes and we have been together since. And I did not go home to my own bed until a really big fight about a year later. But it was just that night.
