How To Meet Men?

Hi all,

I just wanted to ask people here how I can meet some decent nice men.

I don't go to bars, clubs or church groups and although I think I'm approachable in public guys don't approach me in that way. My only past sucess in meeting men has been online but even that seems to have dried up and the only ones that respond to my online ads now seem to be men I don't find attractive or cruel hateful types that have to say something mean to me because I have happen to have some extra weight on my body. I'm not terribly overweight and many people seem to think I'm at least cute so I'm not sure what the problem is. Why is it so hard for me to meet good honest men?

I'm a good person with a good job and financially responsible and have my life together and all that and I think I would be a great catch in that regard and yet I can't seem to find anyone interested in anything but a one night stand which I am not interested in.

Any help on this or suggestions??

You sound like me. I hate the bar and club scene, too. I usually tend to meet men at work. In fact everyone I've ever dated has been someone I met at work. Unfortunately, it does limit the amount of exposure I get but it's how I'm comfortable.

What are you into? Do you like wine? If you do, go to www.localwineevents.com and check out what's happening in your area. A lot of times you'll see wine tasting nights for singles but you don't have to limit yourself to that. As long as it's not a couples night, wine events are fun! I think it would be a much more sophisticated atmosphere than a night club or bar not that I'm downing those environments. You could also join a club like a book club. I don't know if you're into acting, but I met a lot of nice people when I was doing community theater. You don't have to be a professional to do community theater - it's a group of people who just like to do it for fun and there's other ways to get involved like being a stage hand if you get stage fright. How about volunteering at a pet shelter or joining a program that cleans up rough neighborhoods? I'm sure you'd meet some great people there. Just think of what your favorite things are to do and see what you can do with those hobbies in your area. Last but not least, can your friends help you out by setting up some blind dates for you?

Good luck!

lovegirl...

PG thinks you've received a lot of good suggestions.

Of course, the obvious one is to do some volunteer work. It's amazing who turns up at a charity auction, church supper, or community event.

If you provide us with a "sincere smile" and a hello...I'll bet you'll be in a position where you'll have to turn more than a few of us AWAY?

Good Luck!

I find that hanging out in the condom aisle of the drugstore is a good way to meet guys.

What site are you on? I'm somewhat overweight but have never had someone send me hate mail because of it! How weird!

I've had pretty good luck on Craig's List lately but you have to have to be VERY thick-skinned and able to use the delete and block keys liberally in order to use that site.

I know this is going to sound weird but I go to the grocery store at night between 7 and 9 when all of the cute bachelors are leaving the gym and are picking up something for dinner on the way home. Talk about eye candy!

I know, funny huh? Also, hehehe, the caveat to being in that aisle is that you get to see what size condom they buy.

It gives a whole new meaning to the phrase "checking out the merchandise before you buy".
