Is it over?

I have been dating a wonderful man for the last four months. He recently went on vacation for a week to Italy. We went out on Saturday night and he told me that he feels we don't click sometimes. He said he didn't want to hurt my feelings but he didn't really miss me while he was in Italy. I told him that wasn't a big deal because he was having a good time and it isn't like our lives revolve around each other. We normally see each other twice a week. I don't expect him to be dying because he can't see me for a week. I got the impression from him that maybe he wanted to date other women. When I asked him if he did he said he didn't know and he seemed really confused. I lied to him and told him that I wasn't in love with him yet and that I wasn't expecting anything from him. I just enjoyed his company and liked dating him. We didn't really finish this conversation because I was a little drunk when the conversation started but I knew something was bothering him. I know he cares for me because he is very affectionate with me. He held me after we had this conversation. When I spoke to him yesterday I told him that if he wanted to talk then he could call me but otherwise I would give him his space. He told me he would call me in a few days. I have a really bad feeling he is going to break up with me. At the same time my gut is telling me he is the right man for me.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,

I will agree with you that maybe he wants to date other women or it could also be he just needs some space right now.... The real reason I wanted to write was to say to you that I think you handled it wonderfully. I should take a lesson from you... I'm sure you have him thinking about it now since you didn't fall over crying when he said that he didn't really miss you in Italy. Good for you, you gave him that 'no big deal' attitude that I know he has to admire. I wish you the best of luck.
