leaving a relationship completely

I'd like some feedback on a situation that I'm going through. I was with someone that I loved very much for about a year. I was very much in love and very committed. He was committed as well but was "scared of getting too close" and constantly complained that I was around him too much or that I "wanted too much" etc. Eventually I got tired of it and we gradually broke up and I got over my feelings for him. We agreed that we wanted to stay friends and still talk on the phone, but ever since he has realized that I have really moved on emotionally, he has been calling me and saying that he misses me and knows I'm the perfect girl for him. He is also wanting to know where I am when I don't answer the phone, who I'm hanging out with and what's going on and "why are you doing this to me?" simply because I'm not as available as I used to be when I was in love with him. Although it is a boost to my ego, I have gotten fed up with getting the third degree every time he calls, when he was the one who didn't want a serious girlfriend in the first place. I am realizing now that he is an egomaniac control freak and I have stopped answering my phone altogether when he calls. My question is, should I cut him off completely? I have never done this to anyone and I have a hard time completely cutting someone off, although I think deep inside that I should. What do you think?

Pianoguy thinks YOU are being "wishy-washy" here.
Either you want to break all ties...or you don't! This isn't an issue of a man (who you're obviously tired of) just calling you. It's a choice between "keeping the fire going" or dousing it with water...AND MOVING ON! If you're old enough to be in a relationship...you SHOULD know if it's going to work? Keeping a friendship after you've been 'intense' with somebody else ISN'T always possible. Soooo..
Ignore the phone calls if they bother you. And if the 2 of you should meet in a public place, make it clear that you have no interest in him...as a friend or anything more.
