I think like online dating, its a craps shoot. I have a good friend who met her fiance through one.....and a girl friend and I tried it last year and neither of us found any matches.
We live in a world where all of us have a hard time getting good, meaningful social connection. If you are single over 25, it is hard for everyone. These servides are all that some of us can turn to and to me are a necessary evil in these times. I wish that they didn't exist, but I can't find single men IRL. A sad necessity and a reflection of our times.
How long have you been online dating? It's definitely a numbers game... the more you date, the better your odds of finding someone compatible. Very few people are lucky enough to meet that one great guy/girl the first few times out the gate.
But if you've been doing it for a while and don't like it, there's no sense in continuing to put yourself through uncomfortable situations where you only end up being discouraged and feeling desperate.
I quit online dating for that reason. The thing is, I did meet several sweet, marriage-minded men. But none of them were what I wanted. So I stopped searching altogether, and that's when I got together with my current BF... offline.
I never speed-dated so I can't comment on that experience. But I suspect I wouldn't have liked that either.
