When a 36 year old man, who has been longing for real relationship and marriage, is planning to have sex with a woman he has been dating for a month but has known and liked for more than a year, does that mean that he wants to be in a serious committed relationship with her? He has never been in a long term relationship. He has had at least six short term relationships lasting from 2 months to 5 months since his college years.

Ummm! I hate to sound cynical, but there is some sort of pattern with this chap. Six short term relationships? He's 36 years old. He should have at least had one long tern relationship in his life! He could be saying he wants an LTR, because that is what most women want to hear. And after a month of dating and a year of knowing her and liking her, he is more than ready to hop in the sack. She should make him wait before getting intimate with this guy.

The only way you can know for sure is to ask. Communication is key in any relationship, especially a romantic one.

BTW: If the dating has only gone on for a month he might not be ready for a full on commitment - even if the couple have been friends for a year
