Nerves & Dating

I drive myself crazy sometimes! I have very few reasons to be nervous on a first date, I'm outgoing and pretty confident. It takes a lot for me to get nervous. However the anticipation for a first date makes me jittery and scared. Then through the first date my legs will sweat, not bad, just enough to make me notice it and get paranoid.

Why do I get so nervous and is this normal? I don't think it's something that anybody else can see but it makes me so uncomfortable that I rarely date. Once I'm through the first couple of dates with someone I'm fine, I relax and just go with the flow. There's a guy right now that's itching to go out with me and the thought of saying yes as me all shakey. I don't get it!

Everyone gets nervous about a first date. There a couple of things you can do mentally and physically to feel better about the first date and your nerves. Try to embrace the fact that you get nervous. By doing so, it may make you less nervous. Just know that your date is also nervous. Secondly you can apply talc to your body in areas where you sweat so that the powder absorbs the moisture. This may also help calm your nerves. As you get ready to go out on your date try playing music to help bring you into the right frame of mind. When I used to get ready to go out at night, whether it be a date or friends, I always used to play certain music as a prelude to the evening that sets my inner tone. Since you would like to calm your nerves play music that is uplifting or music that is soothing (but not too soothing - you don't want to go to sleep).

"There's a guy right now that's itching to go out with me and the thought of saying yes as me all shakey. I don't get it!" ----> Good for you! ENJOY the shakies - it's a good sign that he's someone you like a lot.
