Pacing myself (I'm so impatient!)

I met a great guy from work this past weekend at a work function. We really seemed to hit it off. He asked me out to lunch today and it seemed to go well too. When we came back though we didn't make any plans or indications about anything, just both said we had a really good time. All good things....
So here's the deal... I am totally impatient. I think things went well and he likes me, but I don't like waiting to find out if we're going to go out again. I know that is part of the dating game... Do I send him an email thanking him for a great time and that is it or do I just leave it up to him. A mutual coworker said he is shy, so to not be afraid to make a move or two.
I don't want to do anything wrong since we work for the same company (although rarely see eachother here).
Any thoughts on how to be more patient, or should I just go for it?

3 thoughts from PG:
1. You can thank him for the nice time....but don't suggest anything in the way of a "future date" or get-together!
2. Don't say or do something stupid to him (or another employee) about your feelings that would SCREW UP YOUR JOB!
3. Patience is easy if you can distract yourself from the person you're interested in with a hobby or a cleaning project. So before you "lose it" and resort to doing something you'll eventually feel FOOLISH about......grab a mop or dust rag and do a little cleaning. And if you're still impatient after all the dust is gone...start reading one of those HUGE HARDCOVER BOOKS books you received for Christmas!!!
