You're joking right? A ring after only 6 months of knowing someone? Personally I don't think it's necessary to celebrate any "anniversary" except on the year (or the day you met). My 2¢.

I'm not talking about a engagment ring. just a ring. I understand alot of people dont celebrate a half year anniversary, All i'm wondering is "if your a girl" what would you rather have.

Presenting a ring could be misleading because of the box it's in... how about a bracelet? :)

Rings of any kind are too fraught with significance for so early in a relationship. The roses would be a better choice, or some other kind of jewelry or a different present altogether (maybe a romantic weekend away?).

apparently my girlfriend and i do.......personally i could care less what other people do in there realationships. Its either we do things alot different where i come from, or some of you have had some pretty bad boyfriends, that wouldnt concider giving a gift to you. too bad that some of you feel so negitivly about celebrating how long a couples been together. In all reality all i was asking in this poll is what you would rather have roses or a ring. sorry but i really dont care much that someof you think its strange. I'm gonna get something for her regardless...i was just trying to find out what would be better. Sorry if this is too up front, but i think some of you guys are not really understanding what i'm asking. just a simple 2 answer question (poll), not really asking if i should or not. Again sorry for those of you who gave me some helpfull info, just that last post, i thought was kinda unnecesary.

thanks

I don't see a connection between some of us not expecting gifts from a person after 6 months and having bad boyfriends. Personally I'm just not materialistic -- that doesn't mean I'm in a bad relationship. LOL My SO just got me a dozen roses the other day for no reason. He remembers the dates of when we met, etc. That's all I need from him -- that he not only remembers them but also places sentimental significance on them. Gifts are not necessary for us. Sometimes we even agree not to get anything on *real* anniversaries and we just do something special together instead. But I have the feeling we're a bit older than you. You sound very young. I thought you were a girl asking this question b/c you wanted either a ring or flowers from your bf. If you wanna get your gf something, knock yourself out. That's nice. I'd prefer flowers at the 6 month mark. Have fun.

Thanks for your picks on the poll, I think i'll go with the roses. I'll just have to remember next time i need to start a poll I'll mention you guys dont have to bother righting any messages after. like i said i REALLY just wanted the answers to the poll, becasue i knew alot of you would have to give me a lecture on what to do and what not to do. All i wanted was help picking between the 2 things. which i got, i figured being a women's website this message board would be better than asking on a "guy" website.

thanks
