should i ask him out?

right, so, i've never posted before and i *really* need advice.
over the past few weeks i've developed the absolutly most insanely huge crush on my neighbour - dorm neighbour; we're at uni. he's *gorgeous*, which was totally the initial attraction, but since we've gotten to know each other we've discovered loads of common interests - things we can go do together. and we spent *loads* of time together. i thought it was going somewhere and he fancied me back (among other things i actually overheard him tell his friend that he would 'go after me' if we weren't neighbours - he seems to think the dorm here allows for no privacy and too close proximity) and now he's gone off home for the next few weeks. the problem is, i'm leaving for grad school about 1.5 hours away from here (but close to his hometown) right about when he would be permenantly back. so i have time issues. i can't just sit here and bide my time.
so here's the question: i know he'll be back now and again on weekends because his best mate lives here and other reasons, and i might be up there if i go with that said best mate for a visit (he's already invited me). so... do i go for it when i see him again, tell him i fancy him, etc, or just let it be? i'm worried if i say something and he gets freaked it'll kill the friendship. but on the other hand, this means we've stopped being dorm neighbours, and since his hometown is close to my grad school it might even last.
anyway, thanks!

Well you should definitely mention your moving and the time frame so that he has all the info, say you've enjoyed spending time together and see where he takes it from there
