I have one of those unique situations. I am in complete shock. I just recently found out that my boyfriend of 15 months was arrested on May 13th for 2 accounts of 2nd degree sexual assault of a minor. He is 23 years old. Then in the Monday 17th edition of the newspaper it gave details of him saying he was 17 to this 14 year old girl and meeting her at a mall. That they had met on 2 seperate occasions supposeably involving sexual contact. His facing a 80 year sentence and $ 200,000 in fines if convicted of both. He hasn't called me or his parents since he went into jail. I wouldn't have known any of this if i had called his roommate and asked where he was. I don't know if I should break up with him now or wait until after the hearing. I really don't believe he would do such a thing. He doesn't seem like he would. But if he did. I'm going to have a rough time moving on and trusting someone again. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Well turn the tables around. If you were wrongly accused of a crime and thrown in jail, wouldnt you be calling and proclaiming your innocence immediately? You need to open your eyes here and look at the facts instead of seeing what you want to see. It is rare that they throw someone in jail, print the story in the paper and press charges unless they have some pretty solid evidence. Im not saying it never happens but honestly...do you really think that is the case this time?

These are extremely serious charges and I can appreciate how it makes you feel.

You said, "I don't know if I should break up now or later".

Sounds like you already decided to break up regardless of his conviction outcome.

Therefore, break up now, get it over with. Put it behind you. Sooner, the better.

Logistical question--how are you going to breakup with someone you can't contact?

Thank you everyone for your help. I think I am going to wait for now until I know more about what is going on. If he did anything sexual with that girl the relationship is over and I will move on. I'm just praying to god its not true. To the one who mentioned Prisontalk.com, what exactly is that website all about? Thanks again.
