I have an interesting one for ya....there is a man that I see in passing from time to time. (I live in a small town.) But, every single time, no matter what, we always seem to have an eye contact thing going. A few times there has been a wave and smile as well. This has been going on for over 2 years. I am too shy and just don't know how to let him know that I am interested. I am afraid that I am sending him mixed signals..Please help:)

Thank you,
J.

IMO, he's the one who "is not that into you". If after 2 years you two are waving and smiling while looking at each other from far away then either he's married or involved but thinks you're cute OR he's playing a game of fools to keep you "there". Girl, move on and don't waste more time in this game.

next time you see him say:

"Hi, good to see you again, how is your day going?"

Then see if he is willing to have a conversation with you. Staring at him, eye contact, isn't going to get the ball rolling.

Hi Jennifer4824...

Pianoguy thinks there's a fine line between "acknowledgement" and "interest!"

In the first instance...a person will wink, nod or wave based on the familiarity of seeing you on a daily basis. There's nothing more here than recognition.

In the second case...there might be something a little...err...deeper?

But (and please forgive me for being blunt)...if you want to "hide behind your shyness", you're never going to find out! So as a previous poster indicated...there's nothing wrong with an occasional "HELLO" or "HOW ARE THINGS GOING WITH YOU?"

If you're bold enough...try this: "You know we've passed each other so many times, I've often wondered what your first name was and what kind of work you do?" If you can build up enough courage to ask that particular question..."the winker and waver" will have to (at least) say SOMETHING?

yes! it might be uncomfortable but take the courage and break the ice!
and come out with more knowledge.

if nothing else, he could be a good pal to talk to?
