Too tall in heels?

Hi all, I have a first date, this Saturday, with a guy I met recently and was hoping I could get advice from my sisters out there as well as from the Male perspective.....This guy is super sweet, really cute, fit and has a good job. I am 5 ft 7 inches tall and enjoy wearing my 3.5 to 5 inch heels which is normally not a problem except that he is 5 ft 10 inches tall. His height is fine for me but I don't know if he will have a problem with my height when I am in my heels. I am really into fashion and have the perfect outfit for Saturday which includes my red and black, fitted wrap dress with my 4 inch, knee high boots. I really want to look extra nice for him and know the outfit is perfect :) So ladies, should I go with my feelings and not worry about the height thing? For the men, would any of you have a problem if your date was taller than you?

Some men are ok with a partner who towers over them; some are NOT.  Untill you really know the guy, ditch the heels.  I'd also suggest you ditch the reality TV look, for something a little simpler and more classic.

If you say that you met him, then I assume you met in person & he saw how tall you are--were you wearing heels then?  If so and you were about as tall as he was, then I'd figure that he didn't care.  But if you were in flats then, it might be a little surprising then if all of a sudden he met you & you were taller than he is.  I'd try to find a lower heel shoe if not totally flat.  Oh just for fun, look for a photo of Mick Jagger with his current GF the designer L'Wren Scott--she towers over him and probably over most men because I believe that she's over 6 ft. tall.

Hi Music, we met at the gym so I was wearing my workout clothes. Thank you for your suggestion :) BTW, I looked up Mick Jagger - Wow!

I say you wear what you want to wear.  If your heels make you too tall for him, and he's bothered by it, then you won't hear from him again.  If you enjoy wearing heels, and he's bothered by it, you wouldn't be happy with him anyway, better to know right away.  I was married to a man who was exactly the same height as me, and he was a man with a terrible inferiority complex, and he went ballistic if I even wore a two inch heel.  I also know couples that have been happily married for years, where the wife is a half head taller than the husband.....without heels!  They're all different, and you just have to be yourself....if they don't like something about you, the heels, or the way you dress......NEXT!

Hi Fiss, I tend to agree with you but I am curious what others think too :) I typically head straight to the gym after work so he has maybe seen me in heels from afar.

Hi Stephanie,

I'm a little late to the party, but I hope you wore the heels.  I'm a guy who's also 5'7", and for what it's worth, I'd have NO trouble if she were taller than me, even in heels.  In fact, I think it would say a lot about her confidence level, too.  I'm a sucker for heels, and so I know I'd like it if someone wore them for me.

Hi Matt, thank you for your reply and insight! Yes, I wore the high heel boots with my fitted red and black wrap dress - he complimented my look :) You can read more on the "Update" I posted after the date. - Steph
