Trying to date again

I could use some advice. I am divorced almost a year (separated 2 years) with two adolescents at home. At this point I am trying to date through online dating services, private dating services. The problem is I've gotten very little ot no response from my ads and don't know what I am doing wrong. My profiles were positve, friendly and honest. I am not a Barbie doll or that young (44) and my size is a little more than average, but I also don't think I'm that repulsive. So what am I doing wrong? Should I lie or embellish. Do all men want someone say under 40 with no kids or responsibilities?
I have cancelled my ads because it just seems lie a waste of time. Also, most of my friends are married and don't have many single friends. Most are also uncomfortable with "matchmaking". Any advice would be helpful.

My suggestion is to come on over to our online dating board and post this... click on the link in my signature and you'll find us. Trust me, the advice there will be solid (even if you don't like it! LOL).

Along with online dating, I got busy with a lot of other things. Go where there are people with interests in common with you. Along with work, I go to school, go out for supper a couple of times a week with friends or family members, and I joined the Lions Club. It keeps you grounded and you can't be too serious about this stuff(until Mr. Right comes along perhaps). Many of the people dating online have real issues, and you never know why they appear at dissappear, sometimes randomly. And for a shallow man(yes, there too many out there in OLD), they do think that they will get someone younger who will discover the fountain of youth and stay that way....even if they are 50. Trust me. If they don't respond for that reason, you are better off patiently waiting.......
Good luck.
