So I asked this guy to have coffee with me. He said yes and proposed a day and a place. When I asked him what time, he asked for my number and told me he would call me if anything "came up". I saw him two days later and I asked if we were still on. He said yes. We had a chat. no awkwardness. I asked him what time and he said he would call me after five. No call...was he just trying to avoid saying no to my face?

He probably meant it when he said it. But if he's this rude and evasive at the outset who needs it? You're well out of it unless he comes up with a great excuse.

Thanks. I feel the same pretty much. Now my only dilema is that I see him every couple of days and trying to decide how to react next time I see him. I don't think he has a good excuse! ha-ha. I'm not the kind to just avoid him now but I also don't want to just look like a fool.

Yeah, it seems he didnt want to say "no" to your date but then he looks like a moron for not actually following through.

Well, I am certainly going to try to do that. But it isn't me really. My nature would go more like, so, what happened the other night huh? then tell him no worries it wasn't a big deal and get on with my life.

i personally wouldn't see the point of asking what happened etc it would just look desperate.

In normal social situations it is fine to deal with that type of situation as you describe - head on.
