What's up with him?

I've been dating a guy I really like for 4 months and last week he gave me a reflective armband so that when I exercise in the morning, I'm visible to cars, etc. This is the first and only gift I've gotten from him. No cards, no cute little mementos of anything--- nothing.

What's worse? It was in Christmas gift wrap and he actually told me that he debated about whether to give it to me now or then!!!

What's the deal?

Awww, I agree with the others, I think it was super sweet of him to think to give you something like that.

I agree, that gift is EXTREMELY thoughtful without going overboard. I would be very flattered because it shows that he thinks about you when you're not around, and he cares about your safety. Much better than some standard flashy thing, in my opinion. I got a gift from my BF of 9 months last week that made me go all squishy. It's his old scientific calculator, because I'm getting a science degree (and he got a fancy new one). He spent 1/2 showing me how it works and what it can do, and told me it's a top of the line machine that will get me all the way through my undergrad. Now THAT to me is romantic, cause it's so thoughtful, and of course because it was his and got him through HIS undergrad, it's that much more special.

i think that was really nice of him. over the last year, my boyfriend has been buying me all these things... lavish gifts.. since i wanted them.. like chanel earrings, coach wristlet, burberry scarf all from xmas last year.. but in all honesty.. for him to spoil was nice.. but i would have liked the cutsy stuff.. like him sending me a random card "thinkin of you" or little notes and hershey kisses.. something more creative.. cuz no matter what brand or w/e he gets u.. it's definitely the little things that count the most.. not how much he paid for a coach bag.

Don't feel bad, for Christmas one year I got an electric can opener. It actually was alot of thought on his part because he really wanted to get me something that I needed and when he was at my apartment he watched and looked to see what I needed. He was very hurt when he saw the look on my face. We were new to dating so I can understand the desire to make a cute little gift mean something. but at least he is worried about your safety. For me, I like to give a music cd as a gift early in dating, also impersonal by some standards, but guys like it.

I think the armband gift was very thoughtful.
