Why am I scared? What should I do?

Hi,
I have known this guy for almost four months now. But the past month, we have been inseperable, seeing eachother almost every day and certainly talking every day, sometimes more. We do everything together, sometimes he picks me up just to run errands in town. He's taken an interest in my hobbies, and all my friends and even my dad likes him. Then just a couple days ago, we kissed for the first time. It was nice, nothing earth shattering, but definitely nice. We've even spent the night together a couple times (no sex or anything sexual, just together in the same bed). Now our best friends are dating. But I really thought that he and I would just be best friends forever, especially since he is my ex's older cousin (he's 5 years older than me). But a couple of our mutual friends tell me that I am his world, he doesn't stop talking about me and how perfect I am. It's true that I feel the same way...and he does treat me better than any other guy I've ever known...as friends or more. But when I think about dating him...I get scared, I don't know if I'm scared because I don't want to lose the friendship, or if it's because I was hurt real bad in past relationships and this seems too good to be true. It's as if he is my prince charming... We have the same friends, and they all tell me that he is taking things slow because he wants "us" to work out...but I'm scared for "us" as boyfriend/girlfriend. He says that he's never wanted a serious relationship until he met me. That he thinks I am his Mrs.Right. What should I do? Am I just being paranoid because I've been hurt, or do I have a right to feel scared to lose my best friend...even though everyone is so sure that he is my Mr.Right, even my ex, his cousin (also a good friend and my first true love) says that I should go for it. I am so confused and scared and happy at the same time! PLEASE HELP!

However, if you think that you can't get past the fact that you are scared of being hurt again or losing a great friendship, then hold off for a while. And be up front with him. If he likes you as much as you say he will understand. And maybe you and him can try to decide on a way to get through this.
Hope this helps
