Birthday gift??

So I just started dating this guy a couple of weeks ago. His birthday is coming up at the end of this month and I was wondering what, if anything, I should get/do for his birthday. I don't want to go overboard but I would like to do a little something to let him know I care. Here are some ideas I was kicking around...
1. A couple's activity book. Seems like a neat premise but pricey for what it is
2. A case of beer for us to drink while watching some
NCAA march madness basketball. This one is my favorite but I don't know how much he likes sports
3. A hike followed by a gourmet pizza dinner overlooking the river.

Any suggestions or comments on my ideas would be appreciated :)

I like no. 3--you should definitely treat him to going out somewhere & pizza isn't too formal for someone you don't know that well.

Oops. Yeah I didn't mean case. I meant maybe like two six packs of a good microbrew. For some reason I always jump right to case lol but I agree a case would make me feel like an alcoholic.

I think micros brews is a great gift idea -- did you end up getting him that?

Birthday gift has now turned into surprise birthday evening!! I don't know whether to do the microbrews 6pack anymore bc I'm definitely taking him out to dinner. After dinner Im thinking of taking him to an art gallery opening or a concert. I haven't decided which yet. We have already seen a concert together so I'm leaning toward gallery. Even if we don't get the art I'm sure we will at least have fun making fun of it haha

I think that's an even better idea -- much better than beer (not that there's anything wrong with beer, yum lol).

I hope you will keep us updated on how the evening goes!

=) evening went GREAT! We went to this quaint part of the city for dinner to one of my favorite Thai restaurants. Then we walked down "the strip" and got some frozen yogurt, which was an adventure lol. It was one of those places where you put your own toppings on and we went a little nuts. Then I took him bowling. Unfortunately for me what I did not know is that he's a fairly avid bowler (almost doubled my score the first round haha). It was really fun. He was even cheering on the little boy in the lane next to us and talking to the dad who was also a pretty good bowler. It was so sweet. The little boy came over to high-five us and wave goodbye before he left. Then the music started getting good so we were just dancing and having a grand ole time. My body is paying for it today though lol

Way to stroke his ego by *letting* him win at bowling!
