OK, so now I'm tempted to "straignten him out.
Did this lend to the confusion?

Now, what in tarnation does that mean? Not that I expect you to ask. I thought your e-mail to him was way past nice and polite, but I don't disagree about the high road. I'd always vote for coming out smelling like a fleur.
Er, 20 (TWENTY!) years he coasted on that *sharing in the early stages" philosophy? Whew, you can consider yourself lucky, honey!
Oh yeah, the camping time does add to the confusion--there is
Ya know, I'm thinking you can be more general with the "why" part of your message...perhaps you can just say "...I feel we aren't a good fit..."
He may try to argue with you, and he'll probably assume it's because of the money, even though that's really only a part of it.
Here is my short version - the one I'll send...I think I got a little dig in there.
So, i sent him an e-mail...a new combination of the short and sweet and the longer set him straight.
