Mr Unreliable or Mr Busy?

So I've dated a guy three times in the last two months. Initially he seemed all into me, but he has been canceling on dates saying he's busy (This seems to be the story of my dating life). Two times I actually get stood up. Both times he arranges the date. The first time he texts me saying he forgot his parents were in town, the second time he just doesnt answer his phone until several hours after we were to meet, saying his phone was dead and he thought I was going to be busy. On nights leading to the plans for dates he texts me regularly and is sweet. I'm beginning to think that this guy is Mr Unreliable rather than Mr Busy and that he is probably just practicing until someone better comes along. That being said, I wonder why I had the patience for him all this while. Can anyone shed some insight as to why a guy would make so many excuses?

This was one of my 1st experiences w/ OLD when I got div--I had been w/ exH for 15 yrs and was over 40, so I figured that maybe middle aged men wouldn't act like high school boys. I was wrong. So one of the first guys I met--we went on a few dates, seemed like we were both having a very good time, then he was suddenly "busy, out of town, etc." It took a little while for it to sink into my head that he was dumping me w/o having to actually do it. "No, nothing is wrong, I'm just busy." So I actually emailed him on this, although it probably didn't do any good, that it is actually better to be honest & tell a woman that things aren't working out, rather than stringing her along for a while, telling her that you are just busy when you have no intention of calling.

My Mr. Toxic was notoriously "busy". Once he couldn't see me because he had to play golf all week (had lost his job, didn't seem to think finding a new one was critical...) so he couldn't see me at all. Or he was out with "friends" but of course I couldn't come along. Drinks in the city with colleagues was also a big one.

Now, that I have totally stopped contact since Mike Brady came into the picture, he sends me texts saying "Are we still talking? I miss you". I don't even respond.

Suddenly not so busy. But I am, permanently, Mike Brady or no Mike Brady.
