TJ and I have been great friends for 6 years. It was like an instant friendship from that first conversation. He treats me with respect, we laugh together, there for each other, even take care of each other when we are sick. He's moved, I've moved and we've both came back to town. No matter how many miles are between us our friendship never waviers.
Honestly, I started "crushing" on him about a year into our friendship. But I didnt say anything cause I didn't want it to be wierd between us, or ruin our frienship.
He's the hardest working man I've known. Two, sometimes three jobs at a time. He has 2 sons which he hold most precious to his heart. He has his priorities in order and he's the kindest gentlest person I've ever known.
We can talk about ANYTHING!!! His woman problems, my man problems, life situations, family, crazy friends, all that. But last night he told me he's been in love with me for the last 5 years, and he was just stubbling over his words and I've never seen him that serious. You could have knocked me over with a feather! He confessed the only reason he fought so hard to come back to town after he left was because it was killing him to be so far away from me. I was speachless! I told him I've always liked him but I didnt want to mess up our friendship. I even thought we should've always been together.
Now I don't know what to do. We didn't have time to talk about it any futher because I had to leave. I'm still in shock, and I don't know what to do.

Why wouldn't you give it a shot? If you're truly friends, you'll be able to reconnect as friends down the road if things don't work out.
So why not at least try?

First, it is what do you want to do? Do you want a relationship with him or prefer the friendship? Once you sort out what you want then have a talk with him on where this should go from here. He has already said he is in love with you and has laid it on the line so apparently he will want this to move to a relationship but he put the ball in your court to see what you will do with it.
