You know, I agree with you. And I don't really consider myself a pessimist when it comes to relationships. But I do think that it's relatively rare that two people can stay together HAPPILY for the rest of their lives. People change, they grow apart, they face temptations. I don't think there's some force in the universe that destines us to choose one person and stay with them forever. That thought is idealistic and romantic and sometimes it really does work out, but staying together doesn't usually happen because two people are truly happy that way. Marriage is an ancient commitment originally created to protect a family unit (specifically the children). It bugs me to see people stay together when it makes them miserable.

I 100% agree with you. I feel like I will never find that one person that I am "meant to be" with. I don't really believe in soulmates, how do we find that ONE person in the whole world that we are meant to be with.? It takes trial and error, and eventually you will find a person that you end up staying with but neverr necessarily can call your "soul mate".

I'm not so sure that you "have the answer".

I have mixed feelings about this.

I do not believe in "soul mates" or that there is ONE person out there that will complete you.

I do however, believe in long lasting passionate love and that turning into companion love when you are old and gray. I do believe that good marriages/unions can make life so much better and great partners bring out the very best in you. I am building such relationship right now. I am living it.

Many people on this earth can fill that position for you, but not just anyone either. To believe that there is ONE person that can fulfill this is absurd. I mean what if they reside in Bangladesh? Logistically speaking it doesn't make sense.

I agree with Sienna. In a world of nearly seven billion people, there can't just be one person for us.

And if there was just one person, how would we go about finding them?
