What does a guy mean when he says "i am dating someone" or "i am seeing someone now" as opposed to "i have a girlfriend"? if he says he's just dating soes it mean he's not serious about the girl?

Possibly...but not everyone has the same definitions. So if you're not sure what the person means, ASK.
If I'm "dating" someone, to me that means that we're not exclusive yet, but we still at least have the *potential* to be serious down the road (otherwise, I wouldn't bother to date him). "Seeing someone" is basically the same thing for me, although I probably wouldn't use it unless we'd gone out on more than 3-4 dates.

He's either not interested in you, and is letting you down nicely, which would be my first choice. He seems to be attached to the girl he's with, but either way you really don't have a chance.
this has nothing to do with me.....i'm just trying to figure out how into this girl he's with now he is....what he said about her (not to me) was that he was seeing someone now.....but he still wanted to chat with the girl he said it to. does that mean he's keeping his options open because he's not really that into the girl he is with or something else?
he's known the girl he is "dating" for almost 2 months now but i know that up until 2 weeks ago he was dating others.....
