2 funny, and 2 serious Q's!!!

I call this the 2 and 2 Wednesday questions, because we have got two days gone, not we still have two to go. So, here we go Hump day!! lol

1.) Why all the UPS guys have nice legs? Is it like a prerequisite for those guys or ladies for that matter, to have nice legs at the time of hire. I cannot tell you how many UPS men and women I have seen in my work week and every single one has nice legs. lol Maybe it is the brown material reflecting the tone of their skin. lol Okay, these are just things I think about on my commute into work in the morning, so anwer a few other silly questions for me....I guess this was number one.lol

2.) What is your favorite nut? (peanut, almond, pastachio, walnuts...)

My personal favorite is walnuts, but I will eat a pound of cashews without blinking.

Now serious...

3.) Scenerio: IF you have a child that attends school. Let's say a 10 year old and you live in a fairly small town. The school is located directly one street over. You have a path that leads into the woods behind your home to the school. Maybe a 5-7 minute walk to the school on this path. Would you allow your 5th grader or older to walk to school, or would you drive them everyday around the block and to the front?

Well, my answer is sort of both. Depending on how mature my children are at 10 or so, will depend greatly on this. I would say yes, but only a few times a week. I would feel uncomfortable allowing my child to walk to school, without knowing who is watching them or waiting to kidnapp them. I am from the city, but live in the outskirts of the city in a small town. I have the big city sort of instincts about the world and would still protect my children the same either or. I just think that people get too comfy in small towns and forget that crimes happen anywhere.

4.) Which brings me here to the last question. Have you heard the story about the woman that killed two out of three of her kids with a rock. Beat them to death in the head, and the infant around 7 or 8 months old was in his crib with a head wound, but still alive. The father was supposedly unaware and sleeping while this went on. The reports say this family went to church and were close to all the people in their community and that there had never been reports of mental problems with this mother. So, something like a perfect family and this happens. Why do you think we seem shocked to find out that people who say they are holy and decent, commit these crimes, and against children at worst?

WE think if someone attends church every Sunday, they are "good". Someone volunteers with kids, or elderly people, we think they are saints. Someone who goes out of their way for others, cant be crazy.....no. We are all humans and imperfect in every way possible. Once we stop putting so much pressure on people to be a certain way or have a certain amount of things by a certain age, then maybe we will have less people loosing their minds and killing their kids. Peer pressure, we as a society define the very meaning of that phrase. Okay, thats me. Now your turn. Feel free to speak your mind as always. I want candid opinions here. Put yourself into the scenerio in #3, and even in # 4. How do you really feel?

1.) Why all the UPS guys have nice legs?

I think a nice butt,,ahem..I mean-behind, should be the pre-requisite....come to think of it..I think it is!!lol...that will always boost the business.

2.) What is your favorite nut? (peanut, almond, pastachio, walnuts...)

Cashewnuts are all time fav follwed by peanuts...and actually even walnuts and groundnuts and almonds..

3.) Scenerio: IF you have a child that attends school. Let's say a 10 year old and you live in a fairly small town.

I do think I would personally escort the child by walking with him/her everyday..teach them the dangers and perils about talking to strangers, helping with directions when a car stops..etc..then maybe....assure the child that I trust them and then follow them for a few days and see how capable are they to get to school..Do they loiter,or are they facinated by something on the way..or do they make their way to school...If they have buddies...all the better....but I still think as a mother,I'd be worried ...so not sure if my answer was correct.

4.) Which brings me here to the last question. Have you heard the story about the woman that killed two out of three of her kids with a rock. ....

I think every family has its secrets...howmuch ever they put on a good appearence. Its upto the family members to decide when they are going to do something about it and get the help if the need be.Everyone assumes that if they pretend its not there,,,it will go away...WRONG...It will just manifest internally into something else....and with worse consequences...I was very shocked by the Laci peterson case and now this....It baffles me to think that ppl are capable of such actions...but it dosen't really shock me anymore that the crime was committed....The real world has the good and bad...I think that is why the most important job in the world is to be a good parent.educate the child about everything with respect to their age. They have to know that the safest place for them is home....If they are scared of ppl in their own house..that is a true tragedy.

Thats all I had to say.

1.) Why all the UPS guys have nice legs?

LOL I really dont know Gail... what kind of desk do you sit at anyway??? When the UPS guy comes to my work I can only see from the chest up. Altho I have begun to wonder if it was required for them to wear sunglasses, I dont think I've ever seen the one here without a pair..... hmmmmmm.....

2.) What is your favorite nut?

cashews, almonds and pistachios, YUM!

3.) My older two are 7 and 8 starting this year they began walking/riding bikes to school, part of the time. We live about 4 blocks away and usually they would leave the house the same time I left to drop off the baby so on my way to work I could usually see them crossing the last street into the school yard. I think it totally depends upon the kids and where you live. I would probably not let them if there was only one kid walking, they are able to do much more out of my sight if they do it together than they are allowed to do individually. Also for about the first 3 weeks of school when I was home I walked with them to and from school before they began doing so alone, this allowed me to teach them saftey rules and see how they behaved on thier way home and to school.

4.) Stories like this are just awful, they often make me feel ill. My personal opion is that many religious teachings when taken to a fundamental extreme have the potential to be very harmfull, both to the psyches'of the followers and to those they may act out thier warped perceptions on. Like in such cases where a religious belief has driven someone to commit awful crimes, yet they are spared the guilt most people would be subjected to because it was "Gods will' or somesuch other excuse. I dont think going to church every week or other such activities are any indication as to the merit of the person. I know many very good people who rarely attend a chruch, yet are very spiritual. Ones daily actions I think are a better mirror into thier soul than the repititious ones expected by society. I cant help but believe in cases when someone has hurt a family member especially in cases of mothers hurting children that there must be some sort of mental instability present beyond what is caused by warped religious beliefs and daily stress. Perhaps that belief is simply a coping mechanism on my part as the alternative is simply to awful for me to contemplate.

Anya, you did a great job anwering the 3rd one. Anyone with kids would do the same thing. So, good post. I will have to admit, the UPS guys do wear some nice shorts too. Tight, making the behind look better. I need some of those shorts!
