I'm curious to hear what other people are up to for the New Year. What are you doing to ring it in? Are you making resolutions/listing goals/etc?

As for me, I've decided to not do anything this year. At first, I was hyped up to go out and party and visit people, etc., but now... plans fell through and I started thinking to myself, do I really want to go out until 4am, get wasted and then lose a whole day? I don't think so. So I think I'll stay home, relax with a good bottle of bubbly and then make the Happy 2006 calls at midnight.

Between now and midnight tomorrow, I'm also going to take the time to review the last year,

First of all, let me say that I am SO ready for the new year. 2005 wasn't the best for me (although it ended much better than it started), and I'm starting with a new attitude this year.

I am going to a bash at an art gallery with a friend. I don't usually do much for New Year's, because I think it's overrated and too expensive, but this party sounded like fun - so, why not?

I never make resolutions, but I have decided that rethinking real life goals isn't a bad idea. One goal (related to dating, not all my goals are) is to become more comfortable talking to strangers in REAL LIFE and move away from the online arena as my sole source of dating potentials. :)

Well, as you know, I'm not ringing it in as initially planned. However, though my personal life is not what I woud like it to be, I have to say 2005 was an exciting year. I did a lot of traveling and met some interesting people. I've also proven that I have at least learned enough about my past mistakes not to repeat everyone of them. I rejoined my gym and even went today. I'm going to try to focus on other things in my life such as duaghter, job, getting my patio put in, ect and hope that the idea of destiny my friends and family believe in is true and that the man for me will show up in good time. Right now, I plan to ring in the year at hom catching up on all the work I'm behind on. I might break down and go out to dinner with family, but so far that's not happening. I wish everyone a 2006 of happiness and new beginnings.

Well, anything would beat my NYE last year, when I was sick as a dog.

I'm actually working tonight at the radio station, commercial free from 7pm-midnight.

1065thearch.com to listen online.

As for any resolutions, I'm going to focus on my health & getting in shape in 2006. 2005 was kind of a lost year for me, with all the instability & depression. I'm looking for a positive & upbeat 2006.

I'm laying low this NYE as I usually do. I'm going to the gym after work tonight then coming home to curl up on the sofa with my "Sex and the City" DVD collection and watch as many episodes as I can. I have to work tomorrow morning.

For 2006 I'm focusing on a healthier lifestyle by eating better and going to the gym regularly.

Happy New Year All!

(The emoticon is for me...it portrays how I feel right now and I need to calm down ;-))

I'm wishing I had decided to stay home tonight. I accepted a date for a dinner cruise but apparently he decided to change the plans without consulting me and I am NOT happy. I was away for a couple days at a friend's cabin and didn't have email access and spotty cell phone coverage so I just found out this morning. All I know is that we have dinner reservations at 8:45 which is way too late IMO and he didn't give me any details about the rest of the evening, so I have no idea what to wear or anything. I hate surprises like this!!!

I have a feeling I am going to be in a bad mood and ungracious when he picks me up...I am going to do my best to NOT act that way and make the best of it but I wish I were staying home alone!!!

i had the exact same situation -- my NYE plans fell through and i decided to not even try to set something else up. i'm actually really happy to watch the dvds i rented, go to bed early, and not wake up with a hangover! maybe i'll work on my goals for next year too!!

I opted out on an invitation to a friend's party....they have a NYE party every year, but it's packed with kids running around, people talking about astronomy or playing cards and junk food. In addition, I'd have to sleep on the floor and wake up to kids running around.

New Year's Eve is for adults.....I'm with kids M-F...lol

So I'm staying home, drinking a glass of wine and doing some laundry....and most of all trying NOT to think of my happy NYE last year with my ex-boyfriend.

Glad you're all here....:)

Your night sounds as exciting as mine. I fyou read any of my posts, I'm supposed to be at a huge party in DC. Instead, I'm home grading papers and doing the laundry thing too. My daughter is at her dad's which makes this a little sadder. However, I'm trying to look at it as a good thing. I was really behind, but I now see alight at the end of the tunnel that doesn't look like a train. :) The fact I was in this same situation last year isn't very conforting though. :( Oh well, I did rejoin the gym and went the past two days. 2005 wasn't so bad either. As I sad previously, I met a lot oe people, traveled quite a bit, and tried new things (karate). I hope 2006 is as good and even better in the personal life. :)

Thanks, Momma......You're obviously a teacher.... I am as well. No grading papers for me, though, as I'm a kindergarten teacher.

I hope you have a wonderful 2006!

Well, how did NYE go for everyone?

I was working & I admit when midnight came & I was alone in the studio, I felt lonely. Kind of an appropriate sendoff to a year that sucked for me. Hopefully I won't feel like that for most of 2006.

One note...I was terribly sad seeing Dick Clark struggle tonight. Granted, he's looking good & for only a year after a massive stroke, probably way ahead of the curve. But, last time I saw him, he was still the same old Dick Clark. How uncomfy, though, watching (and hearing) him smooch his wife at midnight. The crew left his mic on & you could hear the lip action. LOL! Yuck! The look of Ryan Seacrest's & Mariah Carey;s faces when they cut to them was priceless.

Hey Mariah...do you ever wear any clothes that are actually your size? Sheesh!
