I just read an article on online dating. According to the author, 97% of men indicated that if they are attracted/interested, they will call within 72 hours of the meet. Does this seem consistent with your experience?

Yes...actually my experience has been that if they are really interested, they set a 2nd date while you're still on the first, or call by the next day.

Yes. If they don't set the next date when you're with them then I would expect a call within 72 hours.

I met a guy on Monday night. He emailed me right after our meet and then again each day and called on Thursday night to ask me out for tonight. Unfortunately, I already had plans. He emailed me today to ask me out this week.

Ditto to all. If I don't hear back w/in 72 hrs (actually, more like 48), I figure they're either not interested, or playing games. Usually, they indicate wanting to see you again while on first date.

I agree that if they're interested they'll contact you within a day or two. However, unfortunatley, it doesn't mean they'll turn out to be genuine and not game players.

I agree. Statistics like this can be very misleading.

That is a good gage, yes. I used to be one of those, if he hasn't asked you out on the spot chnaces are you won't here from him - no, that's not always the case.

But I've had it happen where they called 4 or 5 days later. It depends, what if there is travel involved or you met on a Thursday and he calls you the following Monday -- don't rule it out if by 72 hours the man hasn't called he's not interested but always keep looking so you're not obsessing on one, we've all done it (been there and done that).

Some interesting points made here...but what if he did call, and he lives about 1 1/2 hours away and your meeting for the first time.. Do you still think that the "meet and greet" should be no more than 1 hour (if meeting for the first time)? I would feel bad if they drove all the way to meet me and we only spend 1 hour together to see if we like each other enough for a second date. Is a movie afterwards too much??

Wow, this is depressing...I met a guy and at the end of our first meeting he told me he really liked me and could he call and take me to dinner, tripped all over himself taking me to my car, gave me a hug...it's been over a week and he hasn't called. Am I naive??

I’d email him and say “hey, how’s your week going” had fun last week. Seriously, throw out the rules – you have nothing to lose.
