This is really kind of funny.

So I'm communicating with this guy that I met on a local "friends" bulletin board where you only get to post one picture. Naturally my picture is a really good close up of my face. The guy seems to find me very pretty, jokes about how I can look so young, can I really be my age, etc.

I wrote back to say that I would send him a link to some other photos, thinking that he should see that I am not exactly thin. (The close up doesn't show that.) And I went to my yahoo page to look at the pictures I had to decide which links to send him. SOmething made me look at the "additional information" for one of them, and imagine my shock when I found that the pictures were all dated 1978. (They were all taken between Dec. 2005 and July 2006.)

Now, never mind that in 1978 I weighed 95 lbs and looked like a pixie. Never mind that the digital camera that took the pictures wasn't even invented in 1978. Never mind that the photographer (my daughter) wasn't even born. The problem is that the date is unreliable. I mean, if I send the link to this guy (or anyone else) he's not going to think they are from 1978, but he is still going to wonder if the pictures are really recent.

So now I am wondering if there is some other site than Yahoo where I can post my pictures for this sort of situation which will NOT include the MISinformation of the date?

It's really very funny.

Ooh, that is weird! I wonder why Yahoo has that glitch.

I think I'd either send him the link and point out the glitch (and say when the pics were taken), or I'd attach one or two of those pics to an email.

I don't think the glitch is Yahoo. The "glitch" is probably that my daughter's camera had that as the date (she had set it wrong or not set it at all). My ex and I did this with a non-digital camera years ago, when the kids were little. Accidentally, we switched the date and so there is one roll of film that has the dates printed on the picture off by a few years.

Yahoo's contribution is only that it shows the date recorded by the camera. So far I have used these pictures on sites where you can't see the "when was this picture taken" information.

I don't feel comfortable talking about the dates on the pictures, like I am trying to prove something. I'd rather just post the pictures and let him figure out that it couldn't possible have been 1978. But if it were me, it would make me wonder.

I've never used Snapfish. Does it give information about when the picture was taken?

Not sure, but I know they have a ton of editing options so it may be worth uploading one and checking it out... plus it's free. =o)

Thanks for the suggestion. I went and tried it (e-mailed it to myself) and it doesn't seem to have the option to see the date the picture was taken or anything like that. Much better than yahoo.

So now I just need to find some casual, relaxed way of saying, "before you get too excited about my youthful looks, here's a couple of pictures of me looking like a flour sack, and another of me looking like an old hag." :)

Don't make excuses for your appearance... whether or not this guy likes it matters not. What matters is that you are a gorgeous woman who has many layers of beauty, one of which includes youthfullness... No matter what he thinks, do not let yourself downplay the way you look. =o)

Thanks. I don't think I am hideous, but I do know that I am not as thin and young as I'd like to be. ;)

I wasn't proposing to tell him that I wanted him to look at some pictures where I am less attractive than on my little profile picture. So how do I invite him to look at these other pictures? It's not like I can say, "here are some pictures of my last vacation." And I'm not in the habit of sending links to my pictures even to close friends.

I think the trick will be to bring the discussion around to pictures and then say something like, "but little passport-type pictures don't really show us the whole person."

I do want to give him an idea of what I look like as a whole so we don't end up meeting and he is totally disappointed in my appearance.

Listen girl... many of us are not as thin and as young as we want to be! Gotta love the skin you're in... ;o)

As for him though, I would just send him the link and say "I wanted to share some other pics of me..." and leave it at that. No story needed. Let us know how it all works out.
