Am I shallow because...............

I am not into bald guys? Or short guys? Or guys who are not of my race? Or old men or little boys? I am so tired of putting my preferences on my profile only to have guys who are way out of my preferences contacting me. Does anyone else feel this way? I can't go for someone who doesn't appeal to me.

No, you're not shallow because you have preferences.

I used to feel bad for not giving these guys a chance but when I saw how much effort they put into reading my profile and seeing what my preferences are, I stopped feeling bad. When you feel iffy about a person right from the get go, it usually ends with them becoming a definite no. So when old geezers or men who can't write a coherent sentence contact me now, it doesn't phase me though I get a little upset when I'm eager to see who it is that left a message in my email inbox only to find a photo of some 57-year-old man in Tennessee who can't spell for his life (I'm in New York by the way). I think men will try to get a woman they're attracted to even if it's against the odds. They're just looking for some kind of reaction.

Shallow? no. Human.

I consider myself to be fairly picky. This, after having dated different types of men and coming to the conclusion that I know what I like and don't like. I'm happy to have grown to this awareness.

Like yourself, I'm not attracted to bald or short men. Been there, done that and it just isn't my thing. Likewise, I prefer dating Caucasian men- and while I generally don't list this in my profile, it is a preference.

Regarding being contacted by men who don't match your profile preferences, it's a pretty common pet peeve with OLD. Like you, I too have received my fair share of men contacting me who were beyond my age range, had kids, were in poor physical shape and/or living across the country. Annoying? Yes, it can be...but that's where a sense of humor comes in pretty handy. Sometimes, you've just gotta laugh and scratch your head :)

Nope. Not in my opinion. One GREAT thing about OLD is being ABLE to say what you WANT. I look at it almost as a "shopping list", lol.
