So we're not allowed to vent about our frustrations about OLD anymore? Or allowed to even HAVE frustrations unless they come at specific, appropriate moments in the dating process?

Sometimes the cumulative effect of multiple frustrations and disappointments is such that it comes out in a manner that might be inappropriate for that particular situation, taken alone, but it's usually NOT that situation alone, it's the whole process.

I think having to censor ourselves from venting is ridiculous. We are all human and we have inappropriate thoughts sometimes...that doesn't mean we are going to ACT on them. This board should be a safe place for us to vent them.

So now we are the thought police?

A lot of thoughts have crossed my mind...doesn't mean I'm ever going to DO anything about them.

And venting on a public board means that what you post is up for comment and *gasp* even disagreement.

If you don't want your comments challenged, write them in a private journal.

Thought Police? How do you figure?

I never said she couldn't think that - but I'm entitled to my opinion that it's disturbing that she did think it.

Or are we only allowed to post rah-rah cheerleader thoughts?

Now that's what I call thought police.

This is WAY off topic, but there is a condition called OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder), and part of that disease involves the presence of disturbing thoughts that cause the sufferer great distress. A lot of people who have this illness do not come forward for treatment because they are afraid that if they report the details of these disturbing thoughts, that someone will think they're going to ACT on them. In fact, a person with this disorder almost NEVER actually acts on these thoughts. And the thoughts are extremely disturbing - I have suffered from this condition in the past, and I have been treated for it. Just an observation...I know this isn't a debate board, but I just wanted to throw in my 2 cents and reinforce Sheri's argument that having a disturbing thought does not equal action upon it.
