EH is having a 10 day free trial, so for the first time ever, I did fill in some of the info and got about 15 matches right away, although I suppose that the incentive to getting people to sign up is to send them a lot of matches.

In the past, I briefly tried the site twice in 2 years. It costs twice as much as the other sites, and to me, was the worst site. The first time, the only guy who I communicated with was my height. I like taller men, and they don't give you that option on the site, to limit it to particular heights. He was also apparently still not over his deceased wife, as that is all he talked about in his profile. The second time, the only communication I had with someone ended up being a guy who was a nudist. I'm not into that. A lot of people don't have photos. To me, it's too slow of a process with a lot of money spent.
I met my long term boyfriend on Yahoo. I don't think that site's any better than the others--I think it was a matter of both of us being at the right place at the right time. Expand your dating opportunities to looking on the site Meetups.com. Go to some local activities that they list, that you're interested in. Look in the newspaper for local things like cooking classes, wine tastings, gardening classes, etc. It's a lot of work to find "the one," but well worth the effort. Take care.

I have really maligned EH in the past for women over 40, but I decided to do the free trial and then signed up for three months at $19.95/month.
This is what I have figured out so far.

When I did OLD several years ago, I did notice that there seemed to be a better class of people using paid sites.

I don't think it would matter much what you do because I think unsuitable men will still contact you--you can write in your profile how you like X and some guy who clearly states that he doesn't like X will still contact you because there are some guys who aren't very picky & will contact everyone, plus one guy told me once that men don't really even read the profile--they just look at the picture, so maybe you are very cute.

I guess I hit it really lucky cause my bf found me and I had only been on the site about a week.
