I had a six month relationship a few years ago with someone I met online. But I know LOTS of people or friends of friends who have married someone from OLD. So I am hoping!

I have two close couple friends that met on line and are married.

Couple One met on matchmaker for a hike and he said he knew right away. He dated her 3 years, got engaged and married a year later. I believe they just celebrated their one year wedding anniversary or are about too, yes, they are about to this summer.

Couple Two met on AOL singles or something. They dated two years, got engaged and married two years after the engagement. They just had their baby shower which I missed because I was sick, they are expecting their first son any day now!

My best friend's brother just surprised everyone 3 months ago by getting engaged. He had a 13 year pen-pal relationship with a woman from Sweden that nobody knew about. They had only met once in that entire time. Shocked us all. I thought he was gay. Now he's over there with her arranging for her to move back to the U.S.

I don't know anyone personally but there are two ladies at the nail salon I go to that met their husbands through OLD.

I met my husband on Yahoo Personals. He sent me an email with no picture. Usually I'd delete a email without a pic but for some reason his email was catchy enough that I kindly requested a picture. He said he was having trouble getting his pics accepted by Yahoo (format or something) but we hit it off well enough on IM that I didn't bother with his pics. He finally sent them to me through the IM and he was sooo HOT!!!

We chatted for close to 3 weeks via IM until I got the nerve to meet him in person, and I wasn't sure that I liked him all that much. But I gave it a couple more dates...and though we had our ups and downs (ex tried to get back with him) we weathered the storms, moved in together and we just got married last August.

Maryanne,
Sounds like me, he just popped in witha chat and wanted to know if i lived where he camped and i said yes, I did not have a picture up till pretty close to when we met in person. I like him becasue he was the only one who did not talk about sex. We met 3 months later and then i moved to where he lived, 4 months later. we moved in togther 4 months later and married 3 1/2 years after we met and have been married four years and have a 20 month old son. I knew he was the one on the second date.

It's nice of you ladies to come here and share your stories since we go through and hear so many negative things along the way doing OLD. It's very refreshing to hear about good things happening. Thanks for sharing and taking the time to encourage others with your stories and best of luck in your lives and to you Sonie with your son!

Sounds like you got a winner! We don't have a son (or daughter) but we have a cat! I think I knew he was the one because we talked about everything under the sun (IMing) and how we both loved cats. He didn't have one (yet) but said he wanted to get one. So I asked him after our first date when he was getting a cat - it was my excuse to come over and see him again. So he ran all over town on Saturday after our first date, and adopted a cat at the Humane Society. He went that far to try and impress me, so I think I started falling for him then. But I think the cat worked more in his favor, because after our 3rd date - he got "lucky". LOL

Thanks for sharing, maryanne. That's a great story, especially for us cat lovers.
