Any Opinion/luck on Plentyoffish.com?
| Sat, 09-16-2006 - 6:57pm |
I just joined up today and met a nice guy. Someone I know found her boyfriend on there. I am a bit skeptical about OLD these days. Can anyone share their experiences and opinions about Plentyoffish.com?
Thanks,
Bunny

Well, you can't be all *that* skeptical if you're willing to call a guy "nice" after not even knowing him for 24 hours, LOL!!! My mantra these days is "he *seems* nice but time will tell" and it usually does, ha.
Anyway, I haven't tried POF but my impression is that it's more geared towards people looking for casual hookups than some of the other sites--but heck, all of the sites are a crapshoot and it only takes one, right??? You may as well try it for a while, what the heck!

It's free :-)

And with online dating being such a crapshoot - why invest $$ lol
I'm sure some will say that if a man is not willing to pay money OLD to find the girl of his dreams then he's not truly serious. . . but I dare to say that men are as burnt with online dating as us girls are . . . so a free site IMO is fantastic.
And for those just trying it out for fun and casual dating - - it's perfect.
When there's a serious connectino - -well it's not going to matter if you met on an expensive website or a free one - it'll happen.
I'm quite well off financially but don't want to invest $$ in OLD. I recently met a very financially well off professional on Lava but his ad is also on POF so he's got the right idea - and he and I are classic examples that it's not all poor or cheap people on the free dating site.
I also found the POF has actual mixers and events - like local chapters - - and message boards. I've never seen that on Lavalife or match.com unless I am missing it.
FInally - I had a guy make a good point to me today - - the internet should be "FREE" to all and the advertisers should be paying the bill . . . the guy who created POF about three years ago has got it right. And a true success story - in year 3 of operation he made $3 MILLION . . . not bad for a free site :-)
