Asks for loan after a few dates
| Fri, 11-11-2005 - 3:17pm |
Question for you guys.
My friend went on 3 dates with someone, then the girl asks to borrow money. How would you guys feel about this? What would you do? My friend really liked this person but now they are feeling strange that they were asked to borrow money after 3 dates.
Any input would be appreciated..

It would be a deal breaker for me.
Yeah...that would not work for me. It's so far beyond inappropriate, we need a new word for it!!!

What if your friend lends her the money and then she conveniently decides to ghost?!
If somebody asked me for money that early in a relationship, that would be a deal breaker and a turn-off for me. To say the least, it is rude, especially when you barely know somebody. I would seriously wonder if the person was just interested in me for my money.
If somebody asked me for money a couple of months into a relationship when some sort of rapport has been established, well then, that's a different story. But three dates? Uh-uh. :-)

A gold digger or totally financially irresponsible.
Forget it!! Run for the hills! Gold-digger (or maybe just rude) at best, scam artist at worst.
BTW, even 20 bucks for a cab is inappropriate as far as I'm concerned. I never go out on a date without enough cash to pay for my part of the meal in case I need to leave, and my own parking, etc. If she is strapped for cash, she should say upfront that she needs to meet in a place convenient for her, as she does not like to or is unable to pay for cabs.
May sound a little harsh, but this happens to be one of my immediate deal-breakers.
Puleeze....
If any guy asked to borrow money after 3 dates, I'd show him the door.
You know what else I was thinking of... I remember when the roller blading guy asked me for a ride to the airport after 2 dates.
