well I'm not sure what to pick!

I've just lost about 20 lbs and feel fab. I think I look great, am still hoping to lose more though.

I am 5'8" and 210, have a clearly defined waist (hourglass), kind of Queen Latifah-sh. Am I "curvy," "full-figured," or what?

From a guy's perspective - here's what I think...

I couldn't care less what you put down. Really.

What I want to see are pictures:

-Realistic photos that accurately depict you
-No trickery in the photo - don't hide behind a tree, sofa, concrete wall, hill, bed, dresser (all poses I've seen frequently).

I recommend 3 shots. Lay it out there and let the guy decide.

-Head shot
-Full length body shot
-Candid shot

And none of this foolish "vaseline on the camera lense" or glamour shots.

PS - The hottest picture I saw this year was someone who was probably a few extra pounds that just took good, clear photos of herself standing in front of a door. No props or trickery. I'll take that any day of the week over some fancy photo of a person standing 200 yards in the distance...

I agree. Kirstie Alley – I saw her last night on Larry King. She has lost 20 pounds and she’s still heavy but beautiful in my opinion and her personality is what makes her extra attractive. Very funny lady; someone I could be friends with.

I hate how you have to pick your body type for the profiles! I am not what would be called athletic in build, but somewhere between that and average, but there is no description for that, so I just go with average and let my pics speak for themselves. Besides if that's all a guy wants is super thin and athletic, and he's totally set on this, I don't really care to meet him as that type is usually so superficial and only cares about looks anyway...next!

I turned down a meeting with a guy at the last minute, because he was so set on seeing more pics from me - I had already sent an extra one to him and he still wanted more yet, besides the ones he had viewed on my profile! So I emailed him and said thanks but no thanks, that I was getting the feeling he was only into looks and I had changed my mind about meeting him, but good luck at finding his barbie doll. He emailed me back that I was missing out and I emailed him and said HE was the one missing out because of his attitude - that I was cute, curvy, 5'1" and thin but he'd never get that chance to know! Then I blocked him! He was really nice looking from his pics and seemed pretty nice, at first... Yeah he just rubbed me the wrong way or maybe I was PMSing that day!!!

But from what you said, I'd put curvy in your profile.

LG was right in that pics are the important part.

Best of luck to you!

Amen to that. I recently had a guy that would not stop asking for pictures. He sent about 10 of himself and every time he would email me, he would really not ask anything about me but would ask if I had more pictures. I really didn't have any to send that were not already posted but was trying to work on getting some more, but he knew what I looked like and could see that I was not lying on my size and so on. THEN he ghosted for a week and then came back and asked how I was. I responded back that I had been sick, yadda, yadda (my interest had REALLY waned at that point after the ghosting and the non-stop asking for pictures). He replied to that one and asked for... pictures! I just didn't respond after that.

Hi Vexer,

Exactly - they are such jerks sometimes - so now when I come across one that is so ridiculous about me sending more and more pics - it's a red flag that he is superficial about looks and not someone I'd care to be with - I'm more than arm candy!

I think actually the problem is that so many of them lie about their size and assume that we do also - like they choose athletic for build in their profile and many times when you see them face to face there is no way that they have an athletic build. I think maybe they participate occasionally in a bike ride or sport and then they think that makes them athletic in build - not! Have you noticed this also?

DEFINITELY! I met one guy that put himself as "Athletic" and his picture was of a guy that looked in good shape. I met him and the picture must have been at least 5 years and 20 pounds ago! He looked nothing like the picture at all - it was good he recognized me b/c there was no way I would have recognized him. I noticed him out on Yahoo! recently and he had a few more pictures, sort of... There was a loooooong distance shot of him sitting on some steps. He looked a little more portly than in the original pictures, but it was so far away, you couldn't really tell or see his face! Also he added some "action" shots of someone on a bike and someone rapelling down an ice wall. In both instances, it is really, really tough to tell whether it's him and I met him!

How funny! So many of them put old pictures - like we're not going to notice that they have changed bodily?!

This one guy had checked "athletic" as his body style and kept winking and emailing me and I just ignored him. For one he is a cop as indicated by the picture of him in uniform and I do not date cops (known for being cheaters and 80% divorce rate - my daughter was also married to one - divorced from him now thankfully!).

Well when I was out last week with my friends (we always do a Wed. night ladies' night for either dinner, drinks, or both), I saw this same guy out at a local bar that does kareoke - no none of us participate! I recognized this guy right away as the one who had been pestering me until I finally emailed him and told him I don't date cops because so many of them are cheaters and blocked him. I know it was mean of me but so many have such HUGE egos and he kept asking me why I wasn't writing him back - he had an ego even in his emails! So I just had to do it! ;)

Believe me he was more than portly and does NOT match his pics and one was of him lifting weights with a much smaller girth. He kept looking at me when his new woman wasn't looking, even one of my friends noticed it, then I shared with them who he was - it was pretty funny. We were sure it was an OLD meet since they met at the bar and shook hands then made their way over to a booth. My gf knew the lady he met there from her work and said she was a psycho - so maybe a good pair - who knows!

But it's funny when you see people out in the real world that you recognize from the sites! And yes, many of them do not resemble their pictures and need to post updated pics!

Maybe to make myself look more interesting as some of these guys do - I'll get a pic taken from a distance of say a girl with blonde hair white water rafting or something exciting, to add to my profile, as no guy would know it wasn't me - make myself more appealing??? Just kidding! - oh yeah, my profile is down now!

It's classic... when men say "a few extra pounds" they mean 50-100.

I had the same thing happen; the guy showed up unannounced at my workplace and was EASILY 100 pounds heavier than his picture.

I would be MORTIFIED to misrepresent myself like that!!

Hi Curve,

You sound Great! I would probably put curvy, because what you have, has it Goin' On! Plus, if you are on the weight loss track, you will lose More, and it will get to be fun and lots easier, day by day, as it becomes part of your life's routine!

Two Snaps Up for You!

Truly,
