is that cheap?

"Oh yeah, I believe in equality between the sexes. That means you should be investing in, and using, credits on this system. Showing some initiative will score you major points. "
Not sure if this is out of cheapness or fairness. What do you think?

I don't think we can judge him based on that statement. Hasn't it been a common complaint on these boards when guys won't buy a subscription/credits to talk to the gals they wink at? I think he deserves more of a chance than that... would you want someone to judge ya based on one statement?
Buy some credits, see what he's about. At least invest in it. I actually agree with him... we can't expect to get quality for free.

I think the tone is cranky, like those guys who say things like, "If your picture isn't posted, don't bother e-mailing," or "I'm not your daddy or your former boyfriend so if you aren't over them, don't bother me." It's not so much cheap as ungracious.
He sounds defensive, like he needs to tell you to be fair to him. I try to avoid people like that as friends (never mind dates) because they are always looking for cases where someone else is being "unfair" or taking advantage. You know--a group of people go out to dinner, you all split the check evenly, and this one person complains because when the check is split s/he ends up paying 25 cents more than if s/he had had a separate check. (I'm big on separate checks or taking turns paying, but you know sometimes it isn't possible and when that happens, I don't fuss.)
Anyway, for me that sort of profile is a big turnoff.
