The Contendor

I’m not really a boxing person but this is the best show I’ve seen in a long time, very inspirational! Here’s a recap from a friend to give you a better picture.

"It is also why Boxing is the highest grossing sporting event in America. There is no one else to blame but yourself. When that bell rings, it's just you and him -- no excuses, no nothing! Everything is on the line for 36 minutes! All the training, all the pain, all the glory can be yours -- or not. This is why I love Boxing. It's the only sport in the world where a true underdog has just as good of a chance to win if he has the determination. ANYONE can have their day and win in boxing. You just have to love a sport where a no name person can become a hero overnight. :-) This show will be very good for the sport, because right now, Boxing doesn't have anyone that is superior. Everyone is losing now or otherwise retired -- hell, even Dela Hoya lost about 7 months ago. The sport is at a stand still -- so hopefully this will bring more fans to the sport and kick it up a notch. ;-)

By the way, this really isn't a reality show... it's SPORTS!! --

This show rocks! :-) You see, I told you boxing is completely unpredictable. On any other given day, Manfredo would have won that fight... but that's exactly why I love this sport so much, as you never know what's going to happen. :-)

From a psychological stand point, you can tell Manfredo wasn't ready for the fight. He looked worried. I think he was shocked that he was picked to go first and as a result, he was scared. After all, the guy that won (Alfonso) has NO reputation. Nobody knew anything about him because he hasn't had that many fights. He had NOTHING to lose yet all to gain. I think Manfredo knew this as well and that is why he was scared.

My brother told me that one of the black guy's on the show just killed himself about a month ago. Sylvestor Stallone was interviewed this morning and apparently he one of the Pall Bearers for the funeral. No details were released as to why he killed himself though. I wonder who it was and why??? Oh well, I hope you liked the show. I really enjoyed it and I think it's only going to get better as it develops towards the championship fight."

Hi SP,

I really enjoyed it too, but I have been a fan of the "Sweet Science" for a long time! I have been teaching kickboxing for about 3 years, and like to incorporate the footwork drills into it at times, as they are great for your legs and cardio too! It is also a tough sport that Women do well in too! :)

Tired of some of the silly reality shows that go too far, but this one is Great!

Truly,
Cupcake
