Whats up is that he's a pig. & yes, there are a lot more of these types of guys on CL, than probably any of the regular dating sites (Eharm, Match, POF).

Craigslist is fine for good deals on used furniture, arts/crafts, and maybe pets.

I shouldn’t laugh, but that was funny the way you put it! (body at bottom of lake, sounds like a CBS 48 hours Mystery episode).

yeah, I would have the visual of my dead body on a 'Dateline' special after some of the strange ads I have read on Craigslist.

I believe if you are looking for serious dates you should stick with the larger well-known companies like Match.com, Yahoo Personals and Dating-profile.com. On free sites like Craigslist.com and Plentyoffish there's a lot of free loaders, as you might expect-and they are not looking for even meeting anyone, forget about finding someone for a serious relationship. You get what you pay for-and a small subscription fees by the likes of Match.com and Yahoo Personals I believe is a good way to discourage people who do not taking online dating seriously (just like putting a small entry fee in the pick bar in your town LOL).

Actually, my experience has been that there's really no difference in the men I've met on the free sites vs the paid sites, which surprised me but there you go.

I disagree. I have a couple of paid profiles as well as one on a free sites and I have had much better luck with the free sites. I've only met one person in the last three months from either pay site and he wasn't even a good match at all. I had a few other people write me but either they were the opposite of what i was looking for, or they never wrote me back for whatever reason. I am letting all of my accounts expire because it's been a total waste of money.

I've met at least half a dozen guys from the free site in that time, and though things didn't work out for one reason or another they were much better matches to me. One of them I stayed friends with.

I think there are just a lot more people on the free sites, and most are there because they want to meet people, same as me. I get more emails and more of them turn into dates.

That said, craigslist scares me and i won't use it. i have read through lots of ads and seen very little that didn't sound insane or awful.

Good decision not to go on his boat. I would hesitate about going in a car of someone I didn't know, never mind on a boat where you are all alone--I'm not that good a swimmer.

Plus here in MA, we have the so-called "Craigslist killer," a medical student, no less, who allegedly murdered prostitutes he met through CL. I guess the guys there who are looking for dates are thinking it's the same as getting a hooker, but they don't have to pay!

Thats my experience too. I met just as many decent guys on POF & CL, & just as many losers on Match. (my bf of 10 months, was from POF)
