I came real close about a month ago but stopped because I knew it wasn't the right person (okay, it was the 'not-over-my-ex' guy, sorry) but he was a really good kisser!!! Anyway, I digress....the last real, real time was over 6 months but he ghosted. Oh well, his loss.

I put myself in the within a month option since the guy I was dating and I just broke up about 3 weeks ago; before him I was nearly two years; lets hope I am not waiting two years again, lol. I am a bit of a old fashioned girl who waits for a relationship and dates at least 2-3 months before going down that road. Most of my single friends tell me I need to lighten that rule up but its hard for me; I can't help the way I feel.

Motherof2innb,

There's nothing wrong with waiting and I don't think 2-3 months is unreasonable to wait until having sex. At least that way you know if the guy is genuine and willing to take the time to work on a relationship.

Yet, there are also players out there disguised as good guys, a different breed of man that we have discussed on this board before - the ones who will woo you and be romantic and use all of the tricks where romance is concerned as they're very good at it and know what women like to hear. They wait their time patiently until their conquest is achieved, and then they move on with no bad feelings, guilt or last thoughts.

But I say to listen to your own thoughts and do what is right for you. Your friends can do what is right for themselves! I am in a relationship now that I have waited to have sex and I am glad that I did. So you're not alone in waiting, but it won't be 3 months for me!

Very informative poll. We are all over the calendar, aren't we? I had stopped actively pursuing men many years ago, and....nothing happened. The days just went by, as most of you realize....

Only this past year did I decide I really want to "change my way of living," as the old song goes. So theoretically I just had to find a guy I was attracted to. Could I return to my youthful wantonness? In my youth, I used to jump in bed without a thought. (Note that I'm not saying I enjoyed it the way I deserved to.)

But even though I found a couple of guys I wouldn't mind sleeping with, my medical problem prevents that at the moment. So I am indulging in this pasttime which is quite novel to me: dating and kissing and cuddling WITHOUT SEX! It is truly a whole new world of male-female interaction for me. (But, gosh, am I horny!)
